I saw that statement in a Facebook quote. Someone had quoted another person who made that statement.

What do you think? True or False?

Some don’t believe in the devil. I do! The Holy Scriptures (The Bible) reveal to us that the devil is real, Matthew 4:1-10; 1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:10-18.

Jesus spoke about the devil and the fact that he is real. Yet according to some surveys as many as 40% of people who profess to be Christians don’t believe the devil is real.

Isn’t that odd that people who profess to be Christians don’t believe what Jesus believes? Hhhmmmmm! Someone is wrong and it’s not Jesus!

The devil is real! He’s so cunning!

Do you think the devil wants us to be fat, obese, overweight?

I think the statement is TRUE.

While it’s not true for everyone, many people are overweight because of…

Lack of self-control. For a Christian, the fruit of the Spirit is self-control. That includes how much we eat. That also includes having the self-control to make a plan and stick to it with respect to diet and exercise.

Lack of preparing and preparation. We plan for vacations, holidays (some are planning right now for Christmas), to see certain movies when they are released, etc, to buy a stupid phone, but many don’t plan their meals and when they will exercise. Then these same people complain about health issues. Does that make any sense?

There are a lot of other reasons I could give. But I think the devil wants us to be fat. Being overweight is often the result of too much focus on ourselves. We want to satisfy ourselves and we will do that even to the point of sickness. The more we can focus on ourselves, our desires, the less time we have for God.

“The devil wants us to be fat.”

Being overweight is often the result of being too busy. People will destroy their bodies as they get their bachelors degree or masters. They will get little sleep, eat poorly, and then tell themselves, “After I finish I will take care of myself.” Cmon! Foolish! We’re too busy! Exactly what the devil wants.

“The devil wants us to be fat.”

Being overweight can hinder the work of God. When I was over weight I didn’t have the same focus and determination that I have now. Can anyone relate? When we don’t have that focus it makes it harder to do the work of God.

“The devil wants us to be fat.”

Being overweight often brings a lot of health issues. Many of our health issues are self induced. Again, this takes time and money away from doing the work of God.

“The devil wants us to be fat.”

Being overweight and not taking care of our bodies (I’m not talking about having a six pack or benching 300 pounds) fails to fully appreciate what God has given us. We only get one body! Our bodies are amazing. But constantly feeding ourselves junk, and not exercising I think is a lack of appreciation for what God has given us.

“The devil wants us to be fat.”

Get behind me Satan…

Resist him and he will flee…

He is a liar and murderer from the beginning, John 8:44

Don’t believe his lies. The lie of…

“I don’t have time…” You do

“I can’t change my habits.” You can

“It doesn’t matter how I eat I’m going to die anyway.” I doubt you will be saying that after a heart attack or stroke. Truly live with the time you have.

“I’m not worth it.” Yes you are. You are made in the image of God.”

“Losing weight is too hard.” Dying of diabetes, losing a limb, or your eye sight is truly hard.

The devil is LIAR! Don’t believe his lies.

Take care of yourself. You are worth it!!!

God loves you and so do I!
