Observations Gleaned From the Scriptures by JaneEllen

This is article #17.

Does God’s Word Comfort You?

Several years ago, during some Bible reading, I came across Scriptures that I labeled “God’s Comforts.” I started making one of my now famous “Scripture lists” of these comforts to share with my grandchildren.  Those of you who know me well know I have lists of all kinds of Scriptures. You might want to start making a list of verses that interest you and share them with others also. I loved the idea of God’s comforts and wanted to find more of them. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says that God is the source of all comfort. If you look for these comforts, I assure you, you will find them. All we have to do is read His Word to find these comforts. The Bible is full of them.

The comfort I want to share with you today is Acts 3:19-20. Do you feel refreshed when you repent? The effect of repenting is supposed to bring us “times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord”.  Sometimes we have the tendency to wallow in guilt even after repenting. How can we do this if we really believe God forgives us? If we can’t lay aside our guilt, we are cheating ourselves out of something that God wants to send us directly from His presence.  What could be better than that?

When you repent let go of your sin and your guilt.  When you repent God forgives and forgets.  Hebrews 8:12 quotes from Jeremiah 31:34b –“For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

What a comfort!!! Thank you, Lord!!!

Until next time, I remain with a song in my heart.  JaneEllen
