For the next 5-days I will be sharing thoughts on the subject of Courage. Enjoy.

Why Courage Still Matters: Part 1
We often tell the story of the great Bible character named Joshua to kids during Vacation Bible School. But the truth is, Joshua’s story isn’t just for children—it’s for anyone who’s ever faced an uncertain future.
Joshua had already proven himself a faithful leader. Yet in Joshua 1:1–9, God still told him three times: “Be strong and courageous.” Why?
Because even seasoned believers need reminders to be brave.
I’ve been thinking a lot about courage lately. What exactly is it? According to Dictionary.com, courage is “the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, or pain without fear.” Maya Angelou once said, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”
The Hebrew word used in Joshua 1 includes ideas like strength, bravery, boldness, and inner resolve. God wasn’t simply offering Joshua a pep talk. He was giving him a command—and an encouragement. To “encourage” someone is literally to put courage into them.
So let me ask:
Do you see yourself as a courageous person? Or do you sometimes feel more like a coward than a warrior?
We all have our moments. But the good news is, courage can grow. Even 1% more courage today can change everything.
What might you do today to grow just 1% more in courage?
