Do You Know How to Increase Your Faith?

Several years ago, I started sending my grandchildren a verse or verses from the Bible, and a short commentary on the verses each Friday. I have enjoyed this tremendously. When we started, my grandchildren were in their mid to late teens. Now they are all in their 20’s. One of the first verses I sent them was Romans 10:17. This seems like a very simple verse. However, it is the only one I have ever come across that tells us how to have faith: “Faith comes by hearing…the Word of God.” So it seems to me that if reading the Bible produces faith then if I want more faith I am going to have to read the Bible more.

We don’t have many conversations recorded between God and Abraham. When you read about the kind of faith Abraham had in God, and if faith comes by hearing the Word of God then Abraham had to have had many conversations with God. Abraham heard God’s spoken Word. The way we hear God’s Word today is different than the way Abraham heard God. God has given us His Word in written form and we can read it every day.

Romans 4:19-21 tells us that Abraham’s faith in God did not weaken or waver because he was fully convinced that God was able to do what He promised. I want that same kind of faith and I believe I can have it by continually reading God’s Word.

Will you join me in increasing our faith by reading God’s Word every day?

Until next time, I remain with a song in my heart.  JaneEllen
