This is article #22. God’s Tweets

I do not have, nor do I want, a Twitter account. What I think I know about Twitter is that the messages are short and are called tweets. I got to thinking about some of God’s short messages, and as you know me by now, I started making a list of these short verses and called them “God’s Tweets.”

When I started studying these “tweets”, I realized they were short, but they were also powerful messages with deep meanings and applications. For instance, I Thessalonians 5:16a, says “Rejoice always.” We can read that and just go right on by it without giving it the thought it deserves. We can have joy even when we do not have happiness. Happiness depends on our circumstances; joy does not. Happiness is a by-product of something good happening in our lives; joy is not.

James 1:2 says we can have joy while enduring trials of various kinds.

Psalms 5:11 says “let those who take refuge in You rejoice…”

Romans 15:13 says “May the God of hope fill you with all joy…as you trust in Him…”

As the above verses show, we can rejoice even when our circumstances are not pleasant because we can take refuge in God and put our trust in Him. When reading your Bible this week, try looking for “God’s Tweets” and discern the deeper meaning in them.

Until next time, I remain with a song in my heart.  JaneEllen
