A Thought from David Osteen (A Gospel Preacher in San Antonio).
“Dear Lord, may we be a nation of people that seeks you like we seek lower gas prices. May we be a nation of people that is as angry at the rise of immorality as we are the rise of gas prices. May we be a nation as zealous to save souls as we are a nation to save 2 cents on a gallon of gas. May we be a nation that feels as ready and free to talk about Jesus as we are ready and free to talk about gas prices. May we be a nation as committed to our Lord and Savior as we are Oil & Gas. Lord, help us to be! Amen.” I appreciated him doing so. It forced me to think and to have the proper prospective. What about you?
As I think about what David posted, it made me think about the opportunities we have when it comes to evangelism. I had the opportunity to speak to a couple of people in the community. Both were at stores while I was checking out. The first woman I spoke to, the conversation went like this:
Me: Here’s my card if you are ever interested in a Bible study. Do you ever read the Bible?
Her: No.
Me: Do you own a Bible?
Her: No.
Me: Would you like for me to give you a Bible?
Her: No, I will buy my own.
I don’t know if she will buy a Bible or not, but my hope is that I got her thinking about God and His word. Some may view this as not accomplishing anything, but we just never know how a person may respond initially or years later. Let’s pray for this woman.
The Second woman I spoke to, the conversation went like this:
Me: Did you know your name (it was Priscilla) is mentioned in the Bible?
Her: Yes, I do! Growing up I didn’t like my name, but I do now.
Me: Do you know about the Priscilla in the Bible?
Her: Yes, I do.
Me: If you’re ever interested in a Bible study, please let me know.
There are plenty of opportunities all around us to talk to others about God, His word, and His Son. Through casual contact, we will come across people who are seeking and searching. Let’s give them opportunities. Let’s pray for everyone we meet throughout our lives. Let’s have the proper prospective with what’s happening with our gas prices. God is still in control. We still have reason to rejoice and be thankful.
