I came across an article about Kat Von D. I don’t follow Kat, but the title of the article caught my attention. Do you know who she is? She’s a tattoo artist, had a beauty brand, and more. You can find the link to the article below.

In the article, it talked about how Kat has decided to throw out books that “don’t align” with who she is. The article quoted an instagram post of Kat where she said,
I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves. ”

The article also shared how Kat realized that in years past she has gotten things wrong in her life. What was interesting to me as well is what she said concerning a spiritual battle.
But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light.”

After reading this article, I had to look up “Macabre.” According to dictionary.com the word means:
Gruesome and horrifying; ghastly, horrible, of, pertaining to, dealing with, or representing death, especially its grimmer or uglier aspect.

My mind then went to the Bible. There is an event which took place in Ephesus. Some Christians burned their magic books
Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
The Bible – Acts Chapter 19, Verses 18-20
These believers (those who believed Jesus to be the Son of God, Raised from the dead, and who were baptized for the forgiveness of their sins) burned their books! I find it impressive that they did not try to sell the books to make a profit. Rather, they destroyed them. This is a great example of what REPENTANCE looks like. They turned away from these books, trust in these spells, and trusted in the true and living God!
This is what we are called to do. Our trust is not to be in witchcraft, spells, or seeking to contact the dead. In the Old Testament, God warned the Israelites about where their trust was to be.
When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who call up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.
The Bible – Deuteronomy 18:9-14
Again, in the New Testament, this time in the book of Galatians Paul talked about the works of the flesh versus the works of the Spirit. Notice how he speaks about witchcraft.
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmitites, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
The Bible – Galatians 5:19-25
Some Final Thoughts:
- My prayer is that Kat Von D will belong to Christ one day. My prayer is she will become a Christian! I don’t know if she is or not. I would love to talk to her more about this, have a Bible study, or a discussion on my Podcast. What I can do is prayer for her and her family.
- Do we have any books that we need to get rid of? Do we have any books that we need to burn?
- Repentance comes with a price, but the price is always worth it.
