INTRODUCTION:
As you walk through the fire remember that the LORD will bring you through the fire!
He did for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego in Daniel 3. However, it’s important to note that while they knew what the LORD was capable of doing, they didn’t know exactly what He would do.
What they knew is that the LORD was with them and that they would continue to trust in Him no matter what! That’s the mindset and faith we must develop.
Each of us will have a “Walking through the fire” moment. Some may be different from others. For the Hebrew boys, it was literal fire and physical danger. For others like Job, it was physical suffering and the loss of loved ones. For Joseph (in the Old Testament), it was betrayal by his own family.
For us, it could be our marriages, health, family, or suffering for the cause of Christ.
WHAT TO REMEMBER!
- We can/will suffer for doing what’s right. Righteousness will cost us something. Yet, it all leads to the glory of God.
- Never shrink back from doing what’s right.
- Know your faith in suffering brings glory to God! This is what happened in Daniel 3:26. Others glorified God because of the faith of those Hebrew boys.
- Move Forward in the Fire. While in the fire, the Hebrew boys were walking! After King David lost his child, he moved forward. The Israelites moved forward after the death of Jesus. Life, service, and love for God continues. It doesn’t mean we don’t mourn or hurt. We walk by faith.
- Be persistent in prayer. No matter how God responds, we continue to pray, Luke 22:42. Let us continue to pray, “Your will be done.”
- Worship in the fire. This is what Job did! It is always good to worship in the fire.
- Respond with love. As Christians, we are called to love, Luke 6:32.
- Lean upon brethren. In the fire, we need support and encouragement. Allow others to help.
- Prepare for fires. We know difficult times will come. Therefore, we must prepare for them. How? By memorizing scripture, singing spiritual hymns, and building strong spiritual habits now.
