I confess I’ve been fascinated with the NBA playoffs. We don’t have cable, but we have HULU. And HULU has live sports (I should be an ambassador for them).
The Los Angeles Clippers played the Golden State Warriors last night. They weren’t supposed to win. Golden State has four ALL-STARS. The Clippers won by 10 points.
During a post-game interview, one of the Clippers said how they were able to pull out the win. It was a little bit of “arrogance and hard work.” Those words stuck with me.
The reporter mentioned to the player how the coach said “confidence and hard work.”
What do you think?
What’s the difference between arrogance and confidence? Is there a fine line?
Is a little bit of arrogance along with confidence necessary to be successful?
Here’s what I know. Hard work is absolutely necessary. So is confidence. And maybe some arrogance too. How often do you hear about how players have a chip on their shoulders. Tom Brady still thinks about how he was picked near the end of the draft years ago. It still drives him.
Are you working hard? Are you confident about what you’re doing? Are you even a little arrogant when it comes to your abilities?
I would love to hear your thoughts.
I CAN DO…SO CAN YOU.

I think arrogance is a self motivator when it comes to competitiveness. Perhaps, one without an arrogant attitude towards the other team has already accepted defeat. Everything in life is a mindset and many people don’t realize that. So yeah, arrogance as it may seem unacceptable, gets us places. However, when we are dealing with people one on one with real life issues then I think that is when it is important to allow humbleness to come in. Cool stuff to think upon that is for sure!
Great thoughts. Thank you for reading and thinking about it.
My pleasure. 😛
Hard work and confidence I definitely agree with, not so sure about the arrogant part though. I suppose it could be used in a good way but usually it isn’t. I prefer to stick with confidence myself, but that’s just my thoughts. Good post though!
Thanks. Yeah I always think of Tom Brady. Sports seem to have a way of reflecting life. Times where we desperately want to prove someone wrong.
True enough. I just like to use my energy to be the best I can be and do the best I can do. Keep looking forward, moving forward.
