“HUSTLE.” You hear this word a lot. What does it mean?

Dictionary.com defines it as, “Hurry, work hurriedly.”

Urbandictionary.com defines it as “To have the courage, confidence, self-belief, and self-determination to go out there and work it out until you find the opportunities you want in life.”

What do you think of these definitions? Do you ever find yourself using the word “Hustle?” I’m sure you see it on a lot of social media sites. So many want to get out there and “Hustle.” But I often wonder what people are going after?

Are people going after more and more money? How much is enough? When will we be satisfied? Are we hustling to attain more power or prestige? What are we doing? Are we hustling to attain more likes and shares?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for working hard. In fact, the Bible teaches us that we should work hard. In the beginning, God gave the first man Adam WORK to do. He had a lot of work to do. The book of Proverbs provides us with many passages about the importance of work.

But there can be some dangers when it comes to the idea of hustling.

  1. We can neglect important elements in our lives like Faith, Family, and our Fitness.
  2. It could become easy to lose focus on what really matters in life.
  3. If not careful, whatever it is that we’re going after can become our god. We can begin to go after things that become idols in our hearts.

Maybe we should SLOW DOWN a little bit. What do you think? Maybe we should stop hustling so much. Maybe we should take a little bit more time to appreciate what’s already been done.

It’s great to have goals? But let’s also be careful that we don’t lose sight that life is more than just about WORKING all the time.

I CAN DO…SO CAN YOU
