“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:4-8

WOW! What a powerful passage. What stands out to you from these verses? There are a couple of thoughts I have, but really one I want to focus on and also working on at this time.

Without any doubting…

He must ask in faith…

The one who doubts…

As we consider God and who He is and as we approach Him in prayer let us remember…

  1. Faith in Him is necessary.
  2. He has the perfect resume. He’s proven Himself since the beginning to be true. In the Garden He was true. Adam and Eve were not. In the days of Cain He was faithful and true. Cain was not. He was a liar. Even in the days of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Esau, God was true. Others were not. He’s always faithful.
  3. As we go to Him let us pray according to His will. Let us pray with great confidence. Let us approach His throne without any doubting.

To God be the glory!
